What is this food?
Unsweetened tea (tea brewed with water, no sugar).
Why it matters to health
Tea is a low-calorie drink (about 1 kcal per 100 g) with almost no fat, sugar, and cholesterol. It has a tiny amount of carbohydrates and very little sodium, so it can be a good choice to replace sugary drinks during your 3 meals and 1–2 snacks a day. Since it’s mostly water, it helps with hydration, and choosing it without sugar keeps your overall sugar intake lower.
Healthier tips
  • Drink it plain or with minimal sweetener (or none) to keep calories and sugar low.
  • If you add milk, measure the amount so it won’t turn into a high-calorie drink.
  • For daily routine: have tea as your snack drink (instead of soda/juice), especially between meals.
  • If you’re sensitive to caffeine, limit your intake and avoid late in the day.
Common Filipino dishes
